‘Thriller’ Reaches New UK Chart Peak After 43 Years

Michael’s iconic Halloween themed single ‘Thriller’ has reached a brand-new peak of Number 5 on the Official UK Singles Chart, an incredible 43 years after its original release.

The Halloween classic climbed twelve places in the chart published on November 6th, with sales and streaming consumption increasing by an impressive 74% compared to the previous week.

Remarkably, ‘Thriller’ has continued to improve its UK chart performance over four decades. When originally released as a single in 1983, it peaked at Number 10. Last Halloween, the song achieved a new high of Number 9, before finally breaking into the Top 5 this year.

The latest achievement follows another successful annual ‘Thriller Challenge‘, a fan-driven campaign encouraging Michael Jackson supporters worldwide to stream, purchase and request the song on radio in the run-up to Halloween.

The campaign, alongside the song’s growing status as an essential Halloween anthem, has helped introduce ‘Thriller’ to new generations of listeners.

Other Halloween favourites also returned to the UK charts this week, including Rockwell’s ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’, featuring Michael’s unmistakable vocals, at Number 14.

More than four decades later, ‘Thriller’ continues to make chart history, proving Michael’s music remains as popular and relevant as ever.
