Remember the Motown spectacular of ‘The Wiz’ with Michael and Diana Ross?
Well now it is being staged by the ‘Inspire, Encourage, Achieve Program’, the Jefferson County Juvenile Probation Department and the Texas Youth Commission.
The children have written, produced, directed, acted and sang in their own presentation of the African-American version of ‘The Wizard Of Oz’ at the Julie Rogers Theatre in Beaumont, Texas.
Friday morning saw hundreds of school children watch the first live performance, which will be staged twice more on Saturday. Admission for the afternoon performance is five non-perishable food items.
