Elizabeth Taylor Arrives in Britain

Sky News reported on Elizabeth Taylor’s arrival in London, the following are extracts from their report, Elizabeth Taylor talked of life and love as she arrived in Britain to be made a Dame by the Queen. The Hollywood great said she was thrilled to be receiving the honour as she walked through London’s Heathrow airport after flying in from Los Angeles.

She said; “This is the highest, the peak of my life.” She added; “I’m so thrilled. I was taken by surprise. I had no idea in the world. When I first heard I thought ‘No, that’s got to be a joke’.”

Elizabeth Taylor joked about meeting the Queen and said “I hope that my wire hips hold me up, and when I curtsy I don’t fall into the Queen’s lap”.

Elizabeth Taylor will receive a host of honours during her trip including a fellowship from the British Film Institute and a special celebration at the Royal Albert Hall.
