Rio de Janeiro Theme Park

A Rio suburb may be the site of Michael’s $700 million theme park. The bucolic Rio district of Vargem Grande was chosen over sites in four other Brazilian cities and in the capitals of Argentina, Chile and Mexico City, the Rio newspaper O Globo said.

“The park reportedly will cover nearly 250 acres and generate 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. A team representing the singer is expected in Rio next week to make a final decision on the site, O Globo said.

Theme parks are a growth industry in Brazil. Media have reported that Walt Disney plans to invest $3.4 billion in a park in Rio das Ostras, a coastal resort city 100 miles northeast of Rio.”
