Requesting Further Delay

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor was not surprised when the prosecutors asked for a further delay in Conrad Murray’s trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael. Murray had already invoked his right to a speedy trial in January, but the trial has already been delayed twice.

The prosecutor’s reason for another three week delay was described as “scheduling issues.” The defense did not object to the delay.

Judge Pastor explained that he had already rearranged all sorts of cases, including capital cases to start the trial in September and added that he would wait until a July 12th hearing to decide. He also approved a plan to allow defense lawyers and prosecutors to view dozens of hours of raw video shot of Michael’s last rehearsals. The video was bought by Sony Pictures for its film ‘This Is It.’ Pastor hasn’t ruled on what clips, if any, defense lawyers might be able to show at the trial. He has previously limited the prosecution to just raw video of Michael’s last two days alive.
