Artwork Inspired By Michael

Talented Year Nine students at Westfield Community School in Yeovil, Somerset in the United Kingdom, held private viewings to show their abstract art paintings, which were inspired by Michael’s, ‘Earth Song.’

They have studied the ideas and techniques of abstract artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollack and Mark Rothko. Kandinsky is famous for having used music to inspire his paintings.

The students spent many weeks listening to ‘Earth Song,’ and carefully considered the use of colour, shapes and paint techniques to ‘tell the story of the music’.

Tamsin Gilham, who teaches in the thriving art department at Westfield School, said:
“The students have had the opportunity to experience another aspect of the art world first-hand, by being part of a formal viewing. We invited guests to speak to the individual artists about what inspired their work. As always, I am really impressed by the levels of creativity and dedication that the students have shown.”

Michael continues to inspire our future generations!
