Halloween Tributes To Michael

Both ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘The X Factor’ are primetime Saturday evening shows on UK television, watched by millions each week. Last night both shows televised Halloween specials, which included Michael’s iconic song ‘Thriller’, which worldwide is recognised as a Halloween classic.

On ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Jimi Mistry paid tribute to his long-time, childhood hero by dancing the Pasa Doble to the inspiration of ‘Thriller’.  Dressed the part as a Dracula style matador including yellow and black ‘Thriller’ contact lenses he said, it was a privilege to do so. “Whoever would have thought I’d dance to ‘Thriller’ on television.”

Meanwhile later the same night on ‘The X Factor’, Aiden Grimshaw sang his ‘alternative’ version of ‘Thriller’ which received mixed reviews from the judges. Simon Cowell had this to say; “It was bizarre. The whole routine, you with 25 dummies on stage. I know what it’s like working with dummies. My feeling is, it needed to pick up tempo much sooner. I think it was indulgent and though a lot of people might like it, it was too much to the left. It’s frustrating, because it could’ve been fantastic, but it was too slow, too long.”

However, it proves that no Halloween special is complete without the inclusion of Michael’s music which has inspired generations of performers.
