Michael arrived at the Waldorf Astoria in a white van at approximately 8:45 p.m. this evening. He was dressed in an all white suit with gold embroidered trimming.
Michael waved to the screaming fans gathered outside the Waldorf Astoria. Fans had travelled from as far as Japan to Bloomington, Indiana to show their support. Michael, leaning on a cane, accepted his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He did not sing, despite the audience pleading with him.
Members of ‘N Sync were honoured to induct Michael into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Lance Bass of ‘N Sync said, Michael was always a man who inspired more questions than answers. Michael became the youngest inductee in the history of the Hall of Fame. In 1997, he also became the youngest artist to be inducted as part of a music group, namely the ‘Jackson Five’.
Michael said; “To me, the gift of music has been a great blessing, from the time I was a child.”
The ceremony was taped by VH1 and will be aired on Wednesday in the USA. The names of honourees are on exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.
Michael is reportedly staying at the Four Seasons Hotel.
