Thriller’s a Thriller!

On October 30th 2000, Michael’s ‘Thriller’ album was certified Multi-Platinum for sales in excess of 26 Million by the Recording Industry Association of America. In the USA last year, The Eagles overtook Michael as holding the biggest selling album. But now the two albums, ‘Thriller’ and ‘The Eagles Greatest Hits’, are tied.

Said RIAA’s president and CEO Hilary Rosen;

“There are very few records left for Michael to break and we’re truly excited to continue to reward this classic album with much deserved praise. Michael is, and will always, be the ‘King of Pop’.”

Also on the 30th, ‘Blood On The Dance Floor: History In The Mix’ was certified Platinum for sales of one million copies in the USA.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded a total of 22 Multi-Platinum, 13 platinum and 36 gold albums in October. All certifications are calculated by Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman.
