‘Dangerous’ Reissued in Audiophile Quality

Michael Jackson’s genre-defying 1991 album “Dangerous” is now available in stunning audiophile sound for the first time, thanks to new remastered editions from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. Released as a numbered-edition 180g 2LP vinyl set and a hybrid SACD, this marks the third entry in Mobile Fidelity’s acclaimed remastering series, following their deluxe reissues of “Off the Wall” and “Thriller.”
Sourced directly from the original master tapes, “Dangerous” is presented with exceptional clarity, detail, and dynamic range. The vinyl edition, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing and housed in a deluxe Stoughton gatefold jacket, delivers expansive soundstages and vivid instrumental separation. The hybrid SACD, packaged in a mini-LP-style gatefold sleeve, offers equally impressive sonics, highlighting Jackson’s soaring vocals and the rich, layered production.
Originally debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, “Dangerous” marked a bold creative shift for Michael as he moved beyond the Quincy Jones era and embraced a harder-edged, contemporary sound driven by new jack swing and collaborations with producer Teddy Riley. The album sold over 25 million copies by 1994 and is now nearing 40 million worldwide.
With 14 tracks and nine hit singles, including the global smash “Black or White,” as well as “Remember the Time,” “In the Closet,” “Jam,” and “Heal the World,” “Dangerous” helped redefine the sound of pop music in the 1990s. Each single was accompanied by a signature Michael Jackson short film, later compiled in “Dangerous: The Short Films”.
With the release of “Dangerous,” Mobile Fidelity continues its tribute to the King of Pop’s legacy, giving longtime fans and new listeners the most immersive and faithful audio experience yet of Michael’s iconic catalog.
