***EXCLUSIVE*** CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – UNDATED: Artist Erika Simmons’ cassette tape portrait of The Clash. OLD cassette tape is transformed into amazing portraits of icons like The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Madonna and Michael Jackson. Artist Erika Simmons recreates big personalities by gluing tape from old cassettes, VHS tapes, audio books and film reels onto canvas. The 30-year-old has been creating these portraits for the past six years. It takes a few weeks to create these pieces that range from 12in to 3ft tall. Erika, who lives in Chicago, Illinois, gets the recycled tape from people around the world who would rather donate it than throw it away. PHOTOGRAPH BY Erika Simmons / Barcroft USA UK Office, London.
