Los Angeles celebrates the arrival of the new millennium with the lighting of the famed Hollywood sign at Midnight on New Year’s Eve December 31 in the Hollywood Hills. The sign, with letters 50 feet tall was lit with over 2.7 million watts of power. This is the first time the sign has been lit since the 1984 Summer Olympics.
