Controversy Over Signatures

Michael’s costumes, both on and off stage, have been made for the last 25 years of his career by Michael Bush and the late Dennis Tompkins. Michael signed many of the costumes he no longer used and gave them to the two men who created them. Many of them were sold at the beginning of December at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles.

Now, controversy has arisen over whether or not the signatures were genuine, with “experts” declaring that they are unlikely to be authentic. While the verification of signatures is not an exact science, it is unlikely that Michael Bush would fake those signatures to ensure higher prices for his goods. He has denied that they are fakes.
