Los Angeles, CA…September 4, 2012…Michael Bush, longtime costume designer and personal friend of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and Insight Editions announce the highly anticipated, limited edition book “The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson” set to release worldwide on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. The first art-driven book about the costumes, apparel, shoes and accessories created and worn by Michael Jackson includes hundreds of lavish photographs and a behind-the-scenes-look into the process of collaborating with the world’s most legendary and powerful entertainer of our time. The book includes personal stories from the author, never before seen photographs and a fascinating look into the world of music and fashion that only Jackson could have created

For more than 24 years, Michael Bush, along with his partner Dennis Tompkins worked personally with Michael Jackson in creating some of the most original and recognizable clothing ever worn by a musical performer. They created thousands of custom artistic pieces that captured the inspiration, direction and creativity of the King of Pop.

The book features exquisite photographs of the costumes and the carefully planned construction of the clothing which was necessary to provide support for Jackson’s unique dance moves. All of the dynamic fabrics, metals, materials and creative discussions are documented and accompanied by text that provides insight into the artist’s methodology and fascinating stories from their decades long relationship. The exclusive stories provide a human and artistic side of Michael Jackson not seen in any other books ever published.

Included in the book is a range of illustrations from such mega-tours and videos as BAD, Dangerous, Thriller and the HIStory tours. The evolution of the iconic “Thriller” jacket over the years, a patented shoe device the author created to allow Jackson to levitate off the stage and hand-stitching the rhinestone gloves are all part of the mesmerizing untold stories of a man who influenced fashion and music beyond his years. The book also includes rare photographs of Michael on stage, creating items for Neverland and encounters with Bubbles the Chimp. Many of the images have never been published before.

When we designed, we designed for show time, no matter what the occasion. When Michael was alive he always talked about us doing a book like this. As part of the global promotion for the limited edition book, many of the costumes in The King of Style: Dressing Michael Jackson will be featured in exclusive exhibits in Europe, the United States and Asia. The exhibit opened at the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre in Newbridge, County Kildare Ireland in July and will also tour London, China, Japan and the United States.. In December 2012, many of the costumes featured will also be auctioned by Juilen’s Auctions Beverly Hills.

ABOUT MICHAEL BUSH: For 25 years, Los Angeles based costume designer Michael Bush, along with his partner Dennis Tompkins, created Michael Jackson’s personal and concert tour wardrobes which equated to tens of thousands of original pieces. Traveling the world with the music icon afforded Bush unprecedented opportunities into the private and professional life of Jackson. Tompkins met Jackson on the set of “Captain EO” and it was shortly thereafter that Bush joined the production.
