At a press conference to discuss the release of “This Is It”, AEG President, Tim Leiweke, was dismayed at the public perception of wrongdoing by the company towards Michael. Many fans believe that he wanted to perform only ten concerts and was forced to accept responsibility for more. Tim Leiweke’s opinion is that the company, were giving Michael ‘a second chance’ and the opportunity to make the kind of comeback he was dreaming of. He went on to say “And that we created an environment for him that was probably the best environment that the guy had the last ten or fifteen years of his life. And I’m very proud of the way we treated Michael, and very proud of the partnership that we had with him. And this movie is an opportunity to celebrate that and we could get past all of the gossip and all of the innuendo.”
Also present at the press conference were the dancers and singers who rehearsed with Michael until just hours before his death on June 25th.
