At the Hard Rock Resort Hotel today In Las Vegas, the auction of the Jackson Family memorabilia began. Michael’s MTV award for ‘We Are The World’, his gold discs for ‘Off The Wall’ and the Jackson 5’s ‘I Want You Back’ raised thousands of dollars, while a platinum disc for ‘Billie Jean’ reached only $100, as did a copy of the purchase contract for Neverland Ranch.

Some of Michael’s beautiful stage jackets were the most expensive purchases to date, but there is a long way to go, before the complete collection has been auctioned.

Universal Express who are the company auctioning the memorabilia, think that this auction is just the first stage of many more.

However, critics of the auction think that many items included in the catalogue were not originally part of the memorabilia purchased by Universal Express, and seem to have been added later. This is unconfirmed at this time.
