No Rights!

When Michael allowed the ‘Interview Footage You Weren’t Meant To See’ programme, to be sold to TV stations around the World, Channel 5 (UK), which is a terrestrial TV station, bought the rights. The programme was subsequently televised, and the public who did not own a cable or satellite channel, got the rare opportunity to view Michael’s footage, and therefore form an objective opinion on various issues surrounding Michael’s public image, as portrayed by some unscrupulous sections of the media.

MJWN have been crossing their fingers, hoping that Channel 5 would secure the rights to televise Michael’s ‘Private Home Movies’ in the UK; therefore enabling those viewers who can only receive terrestrial TV channels, to view this ‘fan’s treat’ of a programme. This would have ensured, that the amusing and insightful peak into Michael’s life would have reached a wider and more diverse audience. However today, MJWN received the following information from a Channel 5 duty officer: “Unfortunately, we do not have the rights to the above programme. However, we have passed your request to see this programme on Five to our Acquisitions Department for their attention.”

Channel 5 may respond to frequent requests from fans! It’s worth a try!
