On the Waterfront

The full length version of Michael’s ‘You Rock My World’ short film was premiered early this morning on BBC’s ‘Top Of The Pops’ and also on MTV at 9.00 a.m! Just incase you missed this fantastic, ironical, visual tribute to Michael’s most memorable moments from the art of musical short films, do not despair, as it will be repeated again tonight on MTV at 9.00 p.m. UK time.

The film features precise dancing and choreography and excellent A capella soundbites from Michael! The sound effects are brilliantly incorporated into the storyline. The film also features many humorous, tongue-in-cheek moments, which fans will thoroughly enjoy and relish.

The theme of the film is based upon the 1954 cult movie ‘On The Waterfront’ which starred Marlon Brando and was directed by Elia Kazan. It is considered by film critics to be one of the greatest movies ever made. Marlon Brando played Terry Malloy, a slow-witted ex-boxer who rises to heroism in ‘On The Waterfront’.

The original film was inspired by ‘Crime on the Waterfront’, a series of articles in the ‘New York Sun’ which won Johnson Malcolm the 1949 Pulitzer Prize for reporting. The film traced Malloy’s struggle against the insidious corruption of the New York dockworker’s union.

‘You Rock My World’ was directed by Paul Hunter and in addition to Michael features Michael Madson, who played the father of the young boy in ‘Free Willy’, Billy Drago, Chris Tucker, who is Michael’s side-kick and introduces Kishaya Dudley, the actress who portrays the girl Michael wants to get! ” I’m gonna get that girl!”

Don’t forget the full version will be repeated on MTV [UK] at 9 p.m. tonight. Watch and enjoy!!!! :o)
