Madison Square Garden was buzzing with excitement last night after Michael’s second tribute concert. :o)
MJWN spoke with Rodney Jerkins immediately after the concert and he said, “I haven’t been to Michael’s concerts before. I ain’t seen nothing like it! He should change the title from King of Pop to King of Music!”
This second concert was a blast! The atmosphere in Madison Square Garden was electric as the stadium filled with many famous celebrities and enthusiastic fans. Michael’s History album’ CD1 was being played over the speakers, and as the opening bars of ‘Bad’ were played, the excitement level shot up a gear, as everyone screamed! The audience reaction to the Jacksons was overwhelming but the stadium sure rocked New York when Michael took to the stage! The audience went ballistic!
Michael repeated all the songs from Friday evening’s show but all the fans we spoke to agreed that his performance even surpassed Friday night’s. It hard to imagine how!!!!!! But it did! One surprise of the night was his interpretation of ‘You Rock My World’. The sequence started with a group of girls hanging out on some steps, listening to music on their Walkman headsets. Suddenly one girl said; “Hey that’s Michael Jackson’s new song!” Looking out to the audience she asked, “You wanna hear it?” The audience of course shouted back; “Yeah!” So she looked upwards to where the orchestra were sitting and said; “Turn the volume up!” Michael then appeared and started dancing a routine with the girls!!! Maybe a hint of what’s to come in the ‘You Rock My World’ short film! :o)
The concert closed with Michael hugging Chris Tucker and Usher and just before he left the triumphant Madison Square Garden stage he said, “Goodnight! I love you!”
Our on the spot reporter is frantically tapping away at a computer right now, so please check back later today for a more detailed report! Wow!
