Billy Gilman to Perform ‘Ben’

Country artist Billy Gilman will be one of the performers at the tribute ‘Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years’ in September. He will sing a song more than three times older than himself – the theme from the 1972 movie ‘Ben’, for which Michael received an Academy Award nomination.

‘Ben’ was a landmark song for Michael because this was his first solo #1 hit in the U.S.A. where it sold over 1 million copies. He also performed the song at the Academy Award ceremony in March 1973.
