‘Thrill The World’ Relocated
Tuesday, October 13th 2009
On October 25th at 1.30am around 270,000 dancers around the world will attempt to break the world record for dancing the ‘Thriller’ routine. Dancers in Scunthorpe planned to join this attempt, but permission was refused by the police, as they could not guarantee the safety of any children taking part at that time of night. Originally planned for the High Street, it has had to be re-sited to the Vue Cinema, which although it is a safer venue, there may not be as many people involved, as if it was held in the open air.
Despite the relocation Mr Gladding said his group was looking forward to the event. “We’re really excited, we’ve been holding loads of practice sessions and it feels like it’s all coming together now. We’re hoping to get around 40 dancers to take part and make it a truly memorable night.”
Around 20 dancers performed at the Vue cinema, Fenton Street, on Saturday as a dress-rehearsal in front of a packed foyer of cheering on-lookers.
