Music Lawsuit Involves Michael

Sylvester Thompson of Cook County, Illinois, is suing Will Smith, Michael, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group for copyright infringement of the song ‘Different Strokes’ along with several other music companies and artists. The lawsuit claims that the defendants were substantially copying, publicly performing, making and distributing or authorising the making and distributing of records and sharing the proceeds from the use of the song.

The court is asked to prevent the making or distribution of the music that may further on the song’s copyright. The plaintiffs also are seeking unspecified damages.
