On this day – 19th June 1991

Michael visits the island of Bermuda with 'Home Alone' star, Macauley Culkin for a short holiday and to look for possible video shooting sites.

Macauley's parents, three of Michael's aides and the two stars check in to the city of Hamilton's 600 pound-a-day Princess Hotel where Michael occupies the penthouse, and Macauley's parents are located on the sixth floor, immediately below.

The pair spend most of the time playing games, swimming, diving and shopping.

On this day – 19th June 1992

'Jam', the fourth short film from the 'Dangerous' album, premieres on Fox, BET and MTV in America.

The video features appearances by basketball star Michael Jordan, rapper Heavy D, and rap duo Kriss Kross.

The music video takes place within an abandoned indoor basketball court, where Michael Jackson teaches Michael Jordan how to dance, and in return, Jordan teaches Michael how to play basketball.

In this month – June 1997

Michael attends the 30th Anniversary of 'Phantasialand' celebrations in Bruhl, Germany.

He signs the 'Children in Need' book which was later auctioned by the charity UNESCO, and tried out one of the latest rides in the theme park -'Colorado Adventure – The Michael Jackson Thrill' amongst other rides as well.

On this day – 18th June 1992

'Dancing The Dream', a book of poetry and reflections written by Michael is published by Doubleday. It is Michael's second book and is dedicated to his mother, Katherine.
The book is a present from Michael to his fans of his personal view of the world around us, and the universe within each of us. The book has an Introduction by Elizabeth Taylor, followed by Michael's writings.

Here is an extract from the book:

“dancing the dream

Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on. On many an occassion when I'm dancing, I've felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I've felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists. I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become the victor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing and then, it is the eternal dance of creation. The creator and creation merge into one wholeness of joy.

In this month – June 1976

The Jacksons star in their own variety series which airs on CBS called 'The Jacksons.'

The show, which was first announced in January 1973, is based on their successful Las Vegas shows and features the whole family with songs from the Motown era as well as new material. It is the first variety show hosted by an African, American family.

The thirty-minute Wednesday evening show began airing on CBS as a summer 1976 show and it continued into the 1976-1977 season, finishing in March 1977 after running for 12 episodes.

Michael however was reluctant to do the shows saying to his siblings It's going to really hurt our sales. We're the Jacksons!

Michael leaves the Renaissance Hotel in mid-afternoon for a business meeting with Mohammed Al Fayed. After the meeting he visits Al Fayed's store, Harrods, then returns to the hotel just before seven in the evening.

Michael later meets with Adrian Grant, to personally sign a batch of limited edition prints, and to discuss a new book project.

The Print entitled 'Making History' by British artist, Vincent Mc Kay, celebrates various moments and inspirations from Michael's incredible 30 year career.

On this day – 16th June 1988

Michael performs before a capacity audience of 50,000 at a sell-out concert at St. Jakobe Stadium in Basel, Switzerland. Amongst celebrities at this show are Elizabeth Taylor and Bob Dylan.

While in Basel, Michael meets Mrs. Oona Chaplin, the widow of one of his heroes, Charlie Chaplin at the Manoir de Ban.

He takes several pictures with the family including one of him holding Charlie's honarary Oscar and his award for Best Original Score.

On this day – 16th June 2003

Michael is one of nearly 3,000 people who attend a memorial service for movie legend Gregory Peck in Los Angeles.

Gregory Peck's widow Veronique Passani-Peck asked Michael to help organize the funeral and burial services. Michael pays the entire funeral costs.

Michael, caused a stir when he arrived to take his seat among the many celebrities that were in attendance.

On this day – 14 June 2002

In London, Michael visits the Houses of Parliament accompanied by Uri Geller and magician David Blaine. On arrival he is met by Labour Party Peer Lord Janner who has invited him to come along and join in the birthday celebration for Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Paul Boateng, the first black minister in the Cabinet.

The House of Lords is Michael's favourite room. He points at the gold throne and says: “I want that.” However, he was less impressed by the seats in the Commons chamber, sitting on one and asking: “Are they comfortable after hours and hours?”

Boateng later says of Michael's visit, “What a fantastic birthday surprise. I can't believe it! It's the best present ever. I can't believe that I'm with the most famous musician.”

On this day – 14th June 2002

Michael leaves Paddington Station, London, on a train ride to Exeter with Uri Geller, magician David Blaine and 200 fans at 12.30pm. Reuters describes the event as bedlam, saying that the scene at the station was “Pure chaos, recalling Beatlemania back in the Sixties.” Tickets for the journey were priced at 100 pounds each, including travel in luxury first class seats and access to the benefit concert at St James' Park, home of Exeter City Football Club, which Michael was also attending.

On his arrival in Exeter, Michael is first taken to a hotel then later to St James' Park where 10,000 had gathered for this fund raising event. It was organised to raise money for the football club and on Michael's condition that he would attend the event provided that the Exeter chairman brought along some sick kids from hospitals and also gave half of the money raised to children with Aids and malaria.

“Hello everybody. Hello to you wonderful people of Exeter. To you great supporters of the Exeter City Football Club. Welcome to all the great fans that have come from here and far. To all you children. I’m very happy, very happy to be here with you today. Today, today we come here to support children. We come here to support children with AIDS. We share our love for the children, to help the youngest of those affected by HIV and Aids. We will help them to build a good future, all of us working together for them. A future without prejudice for these children and their families.

We are here to support and help the people of Africa to find a solution in the fight against the spread of HIV AIDS … and malaria … through education and awareness, we aim at conviction but we help with cure. We are here to support you, the supporters and players of this great football club. Sadly, sadly, we live in a state of fear. Everyday we hear of war on the news, on the radio and television and the newspapers, always of war. We hear of nations hurting each other, of neighbours hurting each other, of families hurting each other and the children killing each other. We must learn to live and love each other before its too late. We have to stop! We have to stop the prejudice, we have to stop the hating, we have to stop living in fear of our own neighbours.

The children’s home in Liberia is almost complete, needing just finishing touches to make it the perfect home for orphan children of the area.

The group have also bought a one acre woodland plot in Kent, England, and called it Michael’s Acre. It is dedicated to Michael for posterity. It is a peaceful, tranquil place where Michael’s fans can come together to reflect on Michael’s life and legacy.

They are also funding a home for babies and toddlers in Haiti.

All of this work has been achieved in just two years, with the help and assistance of volunteers and wonderful donations from Michael’s fans.

To keep Michael’s legacy alive, these donations are vital. The MJL website is full of information about the work these fans are doing in Michael’s name.
